  6. Playing and weather conditions
    • The course is inspected and maintained on a daily basis; however, the playing condition may vary from time to time.  Course maintenance such as aerating greens, improving drainage will happen from time to time and often will be scheduled at short notice, depending on weather, which means that we are not always aware, in advance, of when this will occur. Events such as these are out of our control.
    • Golf played on temporary greens and tees is non-refundable and is considered to be an accepted part of playing winter golf. Please note that trolley and buggy bans occur frequently when a course is wet and is determined by those in charge of the golf course; the Estate Manager and Director of Golf.
  7. Weather conditions
    • Lightning - in the event of lightning, golfers out on the courses are advised to cease playing. They should go to the nearest shelter or building until the lightning has moved away. Then they may return to their places on the course and complete their round. If green fee-paying golfers decide to abandon their round, rather than wait for the lightning to cease, refunds will not apply. Golfers on the first tee will be advised of any lightning that is evident or imminent closure of the course but it is their decision whether or not to play. If they miss their tee-time as a result, reasonable endeavours will be made to reschedule either later that day or the following day depending on availability. In an organised event, the decision to suspend or stop play lies with the tournament organiser. In the case of Club Competitions, the responsibility lies with staff running the competition.
    • Fog - in the event of fog, the decision to suspend, halt or continue play lies with the Royal Norwich, as it is recognised that conditions can change from minute to minute. Golfers on the first tee will be advised of course status by the starter or by the golf shop staff on arrival. Every effort will be made to reschedule tee times. If visiting golfers cannot be rescheduled, they will be offered a refund. In an organised event, the decision to suspend or halt play lies with the tournament organiser. In the case of Club Competitions, the responsibility lies with staff running the competition.
    • Heavy Rain - when heavy rain is expected, the holes are moved to high ground where possible. If it is still impossible to putt out then the course will be temporarily closed and play suspended. Golfers on the course should take shelter. When it is possible to restart, golfers should resume their game at their places on the course. If golfers decide to abandon their game, rather than wait for the rain to cease, refunds will not apply. Golfers on the first tee will be advised that the course is temporarily closed and reasonable endeavours will be made to re-schedule, but they may lose their starting time. If visiting golfer’s times cannot be re-scheduled, they will be offered a refund. In an organised event, the decision to suspend or stop play lies with the tournament organiser
  8. Pace of play
    • At Royal Norwich we aim for pace of play of 4 hours 15 minutes (not to exceed 4hrs 30 minutes) on our main course and one hour on our academy course (six holes). This will ensure that everyone enjoys playing the courses in a reasonable time. You can help us achieve this by playing from the tees that best suit your ability and always being ready to play when it is your turn - there are no rules regarding who can play off any of the five sets of tees* – Gold (7,209 yards), Blue (6,763 yards), Silver (6,381 yards), Black (5,874 yards) and Bronze (5,339 yards) but players should have the ability to play to a reasonable standard to ensure their enjoyment and the enjoyment of others on the course at the same time.  It is therefore strongly recommended that only very competent golfers play off the Gold tees. Please, as a courtesy to all golfers, do whatever is necessary to maintain your place on the course and keep up with the group in front of you. In the event of persistent slow play, a Course Marshal may ask you to pick up your ball and move to the next hole or in severe cases remove you from the course if you are deemed to be repeatedly delaying other golfers.

*Some restrictions on tee options may apply during the winter and periods of course renovation.

  • The course is busy in the high season and you would expect approximately 4 hours 15 minutes a round as a reasonable pace of play although this can be slower in extremely busy times. We cannot be held responsible for slow play on the golf courses.
  • To ensure that there is a consistent speed of play the Club reserves the right to pair up golfers as required. If you do not wish to be paired up you will be required to pay for four players at the time of booking.
  1. Dress code
    • Royal Norwich does not have a formal dress code. All we ask is for members and guests to be smart and dress in a manner that will not cause distress to others.
  2. Hire of equipment and buggies
    • Hire Clubs can be requested online once your booking has been confirmed.
    • Push Trolleys are available for hire on the day.
    • A fleet of buggies with Visage are available for hire. Visage aids golfers with a visual display of both yardages and routes around the courses, along with limiting areas that buggies can enter, which protects both the user and the golf course. All members/visitors wishing to hire a buggy must agree to Royal Norwich’s buggy policy. please contact 01603 429928 so we can check availability for your tee time(s). Buggies may not be driven by anyone under the age of 18 years.
  3. Additional Covid-19 terms and conditions
    • In the event that any member of the lead player’s party has a positive Covid-19 test or is otherwise required to self-isolate within 7 days of the first tee time, the lead golfer should email mail@royalnorwichgolf.co.uk quoting the booking reference and provide appropriate proof of the diagnoses. In these circumstances Royal Norwich will agree to a re-booking option for the group at no extra cost.
    • By arriving at Royal Norwich for your scheduled round, you are certifying that you have not had any symptoms, have not been around anyone with the Covid 19 illness for 14 days to the best of your knowledge and that you nor any member of your party have not had the illness or if so, have been symptom free for 14 days and have been cleared by your GP or a test.
    • To ensure your safety at Royal Norwich during the pandemic, where practicable Royal Norwich complies with the R&A’s guidelines https://www.randa.org/News/2020/04/Golf-in-the-UK-under-COVID-19-restrictions for safe play.
  4. The small print
    • Although all reasonable efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of the information (including prices) therein (royalnorwich.co.uk), in our email newsletters, in our promotional material and printed media, changes and errors will occasionally occur. You must therefore check the details of your chosen tee time (including the price) at the time of booking.
    • When making a booking you are agreeing to the terms and conditions set out in our Privacy Statement.
    • When you book with us, you accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused by you or any member of your party.  Full payment for any such damage or loss must be paid direct at the time to the Club.  If you fail to do so, you will be responsible for meeting any claims subsequently made against us (together with our own and the other party’s full legal costs) as a result of your actions.
