Our 18-Hole Championship Course

Designed by Ross McMurray and opened by Ian Poulter, the course blends tradition, modern design, and natural beauty

Founded in 1893 and granted Royal patronage by Queen Victoria, Royal Norwich Golf Club has been part of Norfolk’s golfing heritage for over 130 years. The Championship Course sits just outside Norwich on the Weston Estate, stretching across mature parkland and open countryside. Designed by Ross McMurray and opened by Ian Poulter, the course offers two returning nines across 7,200 yards with five sets of tees, carefully contoured greens and strategic bunkering — a layout that tests skill while remaining enjoyable for every golfer. Visitors are welcome seven days a week, no membership required.

A thoughtful test of control rather than power

Hole 1 is a tough but inviting opening par 4 that immediately asks golfers to respect the course. It looks playable from the tee, but poor decision-making early can quickly lead to trouble and a difficult start to the round.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE

what our golfers say

beautifully challenging, rewarding accuracy and composure throughout the round. The toughest tests come at Holes 5, 10, and 16, where strategic play is key to success. In contrast, Hole 14 offers a welcome chance for a birdie and a confidence boost before the closing stretch. It’s a course that demands focus, rewards smart decisions, and leaves a lasting impression on every player.
